Perth Wedding Cake Experts – Experience the Difference
Did you know that most wedding cakes are commercial packet cakes? The difference with my cakes is that they are all made from premium quality, fresh ingredients at home in my commercially approved kitchen. Cakes made from scratch with free range eggs, flour and high grade chocolate. I make by hand all the toppers, figurines and sugar flowers. The difference is, cakes made with love and I know that you will taste the difference.
The Consultation Process
During the consultation, I can guide you through the decisions you need to make about your cake from flavour to filling, topping, decorations and size.
Remember that each one of my cakes is individual and unique. Even a copy of one of my own previously made cakes will differ slightly from the original.
Let’s Custom Design your Cake
1. The Cake:
Choose from my rich indulgent mud cake, the lighter white chocolate mud or an unusual but absolutely delicious citrus mud cake. A rich fruit cake is the traditional choice and can be saved for the first anniversary. This is often the choice for the top tier of the cake. Note that this cake needs three months notice to ensure that the flavour is fully mature for your special day.
What about something different like a carrot cake or orange cake – perfect for an afternoon reception?
The mud cakes are divine with a complimentary ganache layer as a filling. You may also choose a cream cheese filling, flavoured buttercream, or raspberry, strawberry or caramel layer. Some cakes work best with lemon curd or custard. Arrange a consultation with me to discuss the best combination for your cake.
The traditional wedding cake is covered in ganache topped with rolled fondant but many modern brides and grooms prefer ganache alone, buttercream, marzipan and fondant, chocolate “tiles” or a combination of the above. For those who prefer the flavour, a marshmallow fondant can replace the better known ready-to-roll option.
Handmade sugarpaste flowers are a speciality (see here for photos of sugar flowers that I have created). These can match the flowers in your bouquet and many brides choose to save them as a special keepsake of the day.
Other options include edible sugar lace, stenciled designs, ribbons (fabric or fondant), figurines (acrylic, ceramic or fondant), speciality piping and fondant effects, shapes such as hearts, stars and stripes inlaid into the fondant or placed on top, pictures, lollies, fruit (real or fondant). See below for some example pictures.
If you have a particular decoration in mind, please discuss this with me.
See our sizing guide to decide how large to order your cake. Remember, if your guest list is long but you want a small cake, a separate slab cake can also be made to serve to your guests who will all assume they are getting a piece of the creation on the cake table. Mini cakes (as shown in this picture) and wedding cupcake towers are also a popular choice.
Decide if you will serve the cake as dessert or as coffee portions and also if you wish for the cake to be boxed for your guests to take home with them.
Schedule an appointment with me to discuss your options and design the cake of your dreams..
Thank you so much for the lovely cake! Everything went wonderfully well on Saturday and I we had many comments about how delicious the cake was too! Will recommend you to anyone looking for special cakes.
